WEAG is excavating at Copped Hall, on behalf of the Copped Hall
Trust, investigating the remains of the 16th Century Tudor
Mansion. WEAG has also undertaken recent investigations at other sites, including Wanstead
Park and Woodford County High School; further work may be carried out there and on other sites in future.
Summaries of the
work done to date at Copped Hall are available on the
'Copped Hall' page; pdf copies of the reports up to 2010, together with reports on the
Geophysics weekend held in July 2017 and the work done at WCHS, can be downloaded from
the 'Reports' page.
A summary and photographs of the activities during the 2018 season can be found in the
Copped Hall Archaeology 2018 Report.
Copped Hall Trust Archaeological Project 2021
We hope that the 2021 season of digs open to the public will include a series of Archaeology Experience Weekends
for absolute beginners in July - this will be confirmed, together with specific dates, once the
situation regarding social activities at that time has been resolved.
